Be transported to another world with a trip down memory lane. Just 25 minutes from Adelaide and a stone’s throw from McLarenvale, Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley, you’ll find Australia’s oldest German settlement, Hahndorf, which is sure to cure your travel bug. The town is filled with traditional architecture, quaint shops and cottages nestled amongst tree-lined streets, especially with a walk down the flavoursome Mount Barkers Road. It’s the perfect day trip destination, though we recommend staying longer if you don’t want to miss out in this bustling township! If you’re making the trip to Ambleside Distillery and saying hi to the team (which we highly recommend!), take advantage of all there is to do and see nearby.
The month of April, as Autumn turns, is when the town blooms with nature’s must-see colour show as the foliage lining the streets change with the season. Families, couples, and singletons will delight in the attractions such as the expansive protected area, Totness Recreation Park, with trails and local flora and fauna that even your four-legged friend can enjoy; all April you can pick your own strawberries at Beerenberg Farm and indulge in homemade jams, sauces, relishes, and condiments year-round at the Farm Shop.
Come to Hahndorf with an empty belly – there are options abound! For vibes that rival taste, you can’t go past the classics: Hahndorf Inn or German Arms Hotel. To satisfy the sweet lovers, try The German Cake Shop, which is worth a sit-down – antique lovers beware you may never leave!

This gin is a nod to you, our members. We’ve tasted hundreds of delicious Australian gins over the years and every year our tasting panel has the (really terrible) job of choosing their 12 favourite gins to share with you. It’s tough competition and they’re a very picky bunch!
Twelve months ago, we floated the idea of making something exclusively for our members; something one off and never to be repeated. It needed to be something for the collectors to add to their gin shelves and moreover, we had to make a product we were proud to share, and one delicious enough to get past our tasting panel!
