The classic Negroni already knows how to hold its own after dinner. Add a little coffee and it becomes darker, richer and just bitter enough to keep things interesting.
Ingredients
- 30ml gin
- 25ml Campari
- 25ml sweet vermouth
- 10ml coffee liqueur
- Orange peel, to garnish
Method
Add everything to a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass, then finish with a twist of orange peel.
For a rich, coffee-forward pour, try Grada Specialty Coffee Liqueur, with its notes of chocolate brownie, burnt caramel and dark fruit. Something sweeter? Try Karu's Orsa Coffee Liqueur. Or swap the regular gin for Darling Distillery Coffee Gin, made with cold-brew coffee, cacao nibs, roasted hazelnuts and wattleseed. If using the coffee gin, leave out the liqueur and return to equal 30ml measures.
Bittersweet, beautifully balanced and ready for the slowest part of the evening.
